Stonewall Jackson Part 1: “Sir, I Am Not Fighting This War to Defend Slavery, I assure you.”

On April 24, 1863, while preparing for the last battle he would ever fight, Stonewall Jackson received a call from the future …

Stonewall Jackson has been called the most successful United States Military General ever. He would march 30 miles and win a battle, then he’d march another 70 miles and win another. His soldiers were called the “foot cavalry”. Except for a single battle where he was outnumbered 10 to 1, he never lost.

In this episode we'll talk about how he got the nickname ‘Stonewall’.

He’ll also lay out the events leading up to the civil war thereby demonstrating that secession was just and legal.

And finally, he has some ripe words to say about President Lincoln and his desire to be a dictator. His argument is compelling.
